althon, what are your gpu driver settings.

you tend to need a lot of the stuff on, or above a certain threshold.

but you can have AA off or low, check for texture filtering settings, bump mapping, mipamp settings, the lot, these tend to be needed to be on high, the game wont up these settings for you if they are on low on the driver settings.

Forced my gpu to use its max ability and the bizarre image repeating error, the water is there, but its shifted as though the location is off centre.

if you mean by DVI vs VGA, then it shouldnt, thats really to do with the contrast ratio and image sharpness. but if you did get a anamoly, the whole screen on what you see at all times will be affected. not just a small part, the water itself wont be just shifted, the whole viewing will be shifted as you imply.

but thats a odd bug, other then it being shifted, is the liquid detail like, how blizz intends it on ultra.

make sure your settings are max then, when you open the client, dont click play, go to options on the top left, and see if anything is on low. im unsure if the settings on there are independant of the ingame ones on 1 or 2.

After a lot of swearing, cursing, forum reading and testing, something occurred to me last night while in bed. Blizzard's comment would be, delete everything that isn't blizzards, and guess what...

The problem is addon based.

Turned them all off, and it's gorgeous.

So, down to step-by-step finding out which one fucks it up.

Got it first time, it's SunArt, the Viewport mechanic. If you have your viewport resized, it screws with the water effects.

ah fair enough, cant beleive a addon did all that. (death to all addons!!!!!!) :D

but althon, try what shin did. as you know i barely use addons as it is, so wouldnt really encounter issues like this :P

Basically Alth, on your ui, you have a strip of graphics along the bottom, where you buttons and stuff are, if the wow footage is not displayed behind that, the viewport of wow has been adjusted. Whatever addon you use to adjust your view, the resize viewport needs to be disabled for the water graphics to be used above fair.

It's a complete arse tbh.

Even without confirmation I can tell that Althonios uses some viewport mod.

You can tell by the placement of his character in the screenshot he provided, it's in the vertical center of the visible area and not in the vertical center of the entire screen.

Correct Hermi I use Skinner to adjust the viewport, but I would rather not change my whole UI, then I'll wait for Skinner to be updated again.

Just checked it to be sure and it is Skinner that makes the issue

It's only slightly fancified "game water" anyway ...

There are so many aspects of water optics that, to my knowledge, have not even been attempted in ANY game engine yet, stuff like dynamic refraction and dynamic caustic rendering.

I would not hold my breath waiting for "realistic" water!
