Ehm.... how.... If my knowledge of icebergs is correct, then where is the rest of it? Invisibility spell perhaps to mask a Tusgarr colony?

From my dusty grey cells, I would say its meant to have another 2/3 below the water.

The iceberg you see above the water is only a 1/3 of its actual size, don't believe me, put an ice cube in your pint.

However the only way that would work, would be if within the ice below the water level, there was something of a more dense material.

wouldnt fresh and salt water make a difference with the density? i may have to try this.... :P

the more salty the water, the more dense it is. Therefore more iceberg will show above water. For eg. the dead-sea is so salty its impossible to sink so theoreticaly the entire iceberg will float there.
Unfortunatly i dont know the density of sea water around azeroth, i wonder if its possible to figure out the density by measuring the differences of volume of ice aobve and below water.....

Just so you know Shin. It is just about 10% of the iceberg that is above the water.
Ofc the salt is a factor too, but its is not the Dead Sea wink

I tend to agree with Torw, the seas around Azeroth are not water, but rather some compound that looks and feels like water but is much denser, and containing enough water to allow crystals to form.

The Dead Sea in Israel would indeed be a good example.

Doc, that is absolutely brilliant, with I had thought of that!

If the part above water is nothing more than an "ice bubble" it would not only explain the lack of submersion, but also why it doesn't topple over.

Thanks Doc, from now on I'll be a firm believer in icebubblebergs.
